This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Scientist II, QSP/QST Consulting Services based in the United States . Overview The Scientist II will contribute to scientific consulting projects focused on Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) and Quantitative Systems Toxicology (QST), supporting innovative approaches to drug development. This role combines computational modeling, pharmacology, and software development to help pharmaceutical organizations better understand drug mechanisms, predict treatment responses, and assess potential safety risks. You will develop and maintain mechanistic models, translate experimental data into meaningful model parameters, and support the calibration and validation of simulations using clinical data. Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to projects spanning oncology, metabolic diseases, liver and lung injury, and other therapeutic areas. You will also participate in research and development initiatives, scientific publications, and collaborative consulting engagements. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a scientifically curious professional who enjoys solving complex challenges through quantitative methods and computational innovation. Accountabilities Scientific Modeling and Simulation: Design, develop, test, and maintain computational submodels representing cellular, molecular, and biochemical processes. Apply QSP and QST methodologies to investigate drug pharmacodynamics, mechanisms of action, and potential toxicological effects. Data Integration and Model Validation: Translate laboratory and experimental findings into model parameters, curate clinical datasets, and support model calibration and validation to improve the reliability and scientific relevance of simulation results. Consulting Project Delivery: Contribute to the successful execution of client projects by completing assigned technical activities, coordinating with internal and external collaborators, and delivering high-quality scientific outputs within agreed timelines and project budgets. Software Development and Technical Implementation: Apply programming and modeling tools, including MATLAB, THALES, Julia, SimBiology, Monolix, and other relevant technologies, to develop scripts, maintain model components, and support technical consulting deliverables. Research and Development: Participate in R&D initiatives, maintain production-ready and license-ready model versions, and contribute to the ongoing development of QST models, including research related to drug-induced liver injury. Scientific Communication and Publications: Prepare and review technical reports, presentations, figures, and scientific documentation. Contribute to joint manuscripts, journal submissions, and correspondence with editors and peer reviewers while responding constructively to scientific feedback. Project Coordination and Planning: Organize project activities, schedule meetings, develop plans for completing assigned tasks, and manage workload in line with contractual commitments and allocated resources. Emerging Technology Adoption: Learn and apply agentic AI solutions to support technical work, improve research efficiency, and enhance modeling and simulation workflows. Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration: Share expertise in QSP/QST methodologies and modeling tools, support colleagues' development, and contribute to a collaborative scientific environment. Take the lead on consulting projects when technical proficiency, project management experience, and project availability permit. Requirements Education: A master's degree in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related scientific discipline is required. A PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant Experience: At least two years of experience in QSP/QST modeling, or demonstrated equivalent technical capabilities. Scientific Knowledge: Strong foundation in mathematics, dynamic systems, and drug development, with a general understanding of relevant therapeutic areas, clinical endpoints, cellular and molecular biology, and biochemistry. Modeling and Programming Skills: Experience with one or more of the following tools and technologies: MATLAB, THALES, Julia, SimBiology, Monolix, GastroPlus™, or C++. Pharmacokinetic Modeling: Experience with physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK), pharmacokinetic (PK), population pharmacokinetic (popPK), or pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling is desirable. AI and Computational Tools: Basic familiarity with large language models and agentic AI, along with an interest in applying emerging technologies to scientific research and technical workflows. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to interpret complex scientific data, develop quantitative models, and apply modeling and simulation techniques to address drug development challenges. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including the capacity to prepare clear scientific reports, deliver effective presentations, and collaborate with colleagues and clients. Organization and Accountability: Strong time management, organizational, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work with minimal supervision. Teamwork and Professionalism: A proactive, self-motivated approach, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel occasionally for scientific conferences, meetings, and training. Benefits Competitive Salary: Annual salary range of $110,000–$130,000 , depending on qualifications and experience. Remote Work: Fully remote position offering flexibility to work from home within the United States. Flexible Scheduling: Flexible work arrangements designed to support productivity and work-life balance. Annual Bonus: Eligibility for an annual bonus, subject to applicable program terms. Healthcare Coverage: Access to affordable health insurance options. Paid Time Off: Generous vacation policy to support rest and personal well-being.
