This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Scientist I, QSP/QST Consulting Services based in the United States. Overview Join a scientific consulting team advancing drug development through quantitative modeling, simulation, and AI-powered innovation. As a Senior Scientist I, you will apply your expertise in Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) and Quantitative Systems Toxicology (QST) to solve complex pharmaceutical research and development challenges. You will develop and refine mechanistic models that help explain drug behavior, predict therapeutic outcomes, and assess potential safety risks. Working across diverse therapeutic areas, you will collaborate with pharmaceutical sponsors and multidisciplinary scientific teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based solutions. The role combines hands-on scientific programming, project coordination, and technical leadership in a collaborative, fully remote environment. You will also contribute to research initiatives, scientific publications, and the development of innovative modeling tools, with opportunities to mentor colleagues and shape the future of model-informed drug development. Accountabilities Design, develop, test, and maintain computational models representing cellular, molecular, and biochemical processes relevant to drug efficacy and toxicity. Model pharmacodynamic responses and mechanisms of action by translating experimental laboratory data into model parameters and curating clinical data for model calibration and validation. Execute QSP/QST consulting projects using specialized modeling platforms and programming tools, including MATLAB, THALES, SimBiology, Julia, Monolix, and other relevant technologies. Apply pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK), and population modeling approaches to address complex drug development questions. Contribute to research and development initiatives, including maintaining validated, license-ready models and advancing toxicology models focused on drug-induced liver injury and other adverse events. Use AI-powered and agentic AI solutions to support scientific workflows, improve technical productivity, and enhance consulting project execution. Coordinate project activities, define implementation plans, schedule stakeholder meetings, manage allocated resources, and deliver agreed-upon outputs within established timelines and budgets. Identify project risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and communicate progress, technical challenges, and deliverables effectively to internal teams and external sponsors. Lead the preparation and review of scientific reports, presentations, manuscripts, figures, and supporting documentation, ensuring technical accuracy and clear communication. Contribute to scientific publications and collaborative research initiatives, including responding to editorial feedback and peer-review comments. Provide technical leadership, supervise scientific work when appropriate, mentor junior scientists, and deliver training on QSP/QST methodologies and modeling platforms. Identify opportunities to improve departmental processes, strengthen team capabilities, and support the continued growth and efficiency of consulting services. Requirements A master's degree in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related life sciences discipline is required; a PhD in a relevant field is preferred. At least five years of QSP/QST modeling experience, or demonstrably equivalent technical expertise, is required. Strong foundations in mathematics, dynamic systems, pharmacology, and drug development, with the ability to apply quantitative methods to complex biological and clinical questions. General knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas, clinical endpoints, and the underlying cellular, molecular, and biochemical mechanisms. Practical experience with one or more scientific modeling and programming environments, such as MATLAB, THALES, Julia, SimBiology, Monolix, GastroPlus™, or C++. Experience with PBPK, pharmacokinetic (PK), population pharmacokinetic (popPK), and/or pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling. Basic familiarity with large language models and agentic AI, with an interest in applying emerging technologies to scientific and technical workflows. Ability to interpret experimental and clinical data, develop mechanistic models, and communicate modeling results and their implications to audiences without specialized modeling expertise. Strong project coordination and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work within agreed resource constraints. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing scientific reports, presentations, and research manuscripts. A collaborative and professional approach to working with clients and colleagues, supported by a positive attitude, initiative, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated potential to provide technical leadership, mentor less experienced scientists, and contribute to team development and process improvement. Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences, meetings, and training. Benefits Competitive annual salary: $120,000–$140,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Fully remote work: Work from a location within the United States. Flexible scheduling: Enjoy flexibility in organizing your work schedule. Generous paid time off: Access a vacation policy designed to support work-life balance. Health coverage: Affordable healthcare benefits to support your well-being. Annual bonus: Opportunity to receive additional performance-based compensation. Professional development: Opportunities to expand scientific expertise, develop technical leadership skills, and work with innovative modeling and AI technologies. Research and publication opportunities: Contribute to scientific manuscripts, collaborative research, and initiatives advancing drug development. Collaborative scientific environment: Work with multidisciplinary experts on meaningful pharmaceutical research and consulting projects. Career growth: Opportunities to mentor colleagues, lead projects, and contribute to the development of QSP/QST consulting capabilities. Additional benefits: A comprehensive total rewards package is available; further details may be provided during the recruitment process.
